On International Women’s Day (#IWD) we had the great honour to support Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) at the special market closing ceremony as part of the global “Ring The Bell For Gender Equality” Campaign (aka #StrikeTheGong). This milestone event marked the closing of the trading day and celebrated the achievements of Women in Finance Asia.

As advocates for gender diversity and inclusion, our co-Chairs Jazreel ChengBonnie So along with our steering committee, champions, and corporate sponsors were part of this meaningful ceremony. It was a powerful symbol of the progress we have made in advancing women’s roles in the finance industry, and a reminder of the work that still needs to be done. Ring the Bell events take place around the world and offers a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between gender equality initiatives and the capital markets.

We heard insightful research and presentations by Bonnie Chan, Kim-See L. and Kazuya NagasawaBenedicte N. Nolens was part of the panel with Poman Lo and Andrew Weir, which was moderated by Katherine Ng to discuss latest developments in advancing diversity in the workplace. #HKEXConnectHall was packed with our members, volunteers, and sponsors as we celebrated IWD, joining over 110 stock exchanges from around the world to #strikethegong for gender equality. By bringing attention to the need for gender diversity in corporate leadership, we can move the needle towards increasing economic growth and social stability.

Thank you to everyone who attended and happy #IWD2023!
