What inspired you to join WIFA? What attracted you to the organization?

I first attended WIFA events just over two years ago as a new joiner at LSEG as an introduction through a colleague. What caught my attention was the passion of each of the members to make meaningful change in our industry, help women find their voice, challenge social norms and provide a platform for women to learn from each other. It’s clear that WIFA has had a powerful impact in shaping the discussion around women in finance in Hong Kong, and I’m honored to be part of this incredible organization.

What advice would you give to young women looking to pursue a career in finance?

Be curious, be bold, and be confident – Push the boundaries of what is possible, find a purpose worth championing and pave the way for other women to follow in your footsteps. Don’t forget to bring others along with you – the journey then becomes much more fulfilling!

Male Allies are important for the social, economic, cultural, and political advancement of women. How have you encouraged male allies to support women in your organization or community?

Male allies play an important role in developing an equitable culture at LSEG. We encourage male colleagues to take an active role in hiring and promoting strong female talent as well as advocating for them through mentoring and sponsorship. Aside from bigger gestures, we also make allies aware of what they can do on a day-to-day basis to support women – for instance, calling in and calling out biased behaviours and inappropriate comments in the moment, making sure women have a voice in meetings, ensuring that female perspectives are correctly attributed and actively celebrating achievements made by women. In March, we led an informative discussion on the topic of “From Ambition to Impact: How industry leaders are advancing and embracing equity” with a male ally as our moderator and a diverse mix of female and male representation as part of our panel. Engagements like these amplify who we are as an organization and how we are supporting and elevating women in the workplace.
